Recently, The Oakridge School raised more than $8,600 for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. The donation was delivered to the American Red Cross on behalf of the Oakridge community: students, parents, and staff.
As the flooding overwhelmed Houston and other parts of the state, Head of School Jon Kellam put a call out to the Oakridge community to try to raise $5,000, which is approximately $5 per student and staff member. The response was great, leading to a final total of $8,632.31. Every penny was tallied, as students emptied piggy banks with a desire to help those in need.
Thank you to everyone who supported this school-wide effort. Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to those recovering from the impacts of Hurricane Harvey.
