Oakridge Faculty Presented at OESIS Boston

Middle School English teacher Amy Alsip, Upper School teacher Jared Colley, and Upper School Integrated Media Coordinator Melissa Triebwasser traveled to Boston over Fall Break to present at the OESIS (Online Education Strategies for Independent Schools) Boston Conference. Mrs. Alsip presented her highly successful Makerspace and Poetry merger in a session titled "Discovering Poetry Through Makerspace Projects". Ms. Triebwasser shared the authentic learning experiences of her class in "From Integrated Media to Integrated Marketing: A Class Transformed". Mr. Colley presented the gamification of his English class in "Community is the Curriculum in English" as well as participated on two panels, "Student Agency – Strategies and Opportunities" and "Creating Collaborations for Online and Blended Learning and Cross Campuses".

OESIS is a faculty-focused innovation network of over 550 independent schools that hosts conferences in Boston, Los Angeles, and China annually. The focus of OESIS is innovative practices in pedagogy, curriculum development, and school culture change through student-centered learning opportunities in project-based learning, STEAM, design-based PBL, Blended Learning, Inquiry Driven Models, and more.
