Five Oakridge students are now published authors. Freshmen Gracie Potter and Rylie Sims, Sophomore Raegan Lane, and Seniors Graham Stanush and Ransom Swinney, have all participated in the Indie Publishing seminar and their books are now available for purchase on Amazon.
The Indie Publishing seminar is offered to help students become published authors. Half of the semester is devoted to writing. Students had the option to write a Novella (25k words) or a full length Novel (45k-50k words). The second half of the semester was spent learning how to edit, format and create their book for publishing on Amazon and Kindle. The last two weeks revolve around launching their work for purchase and learning simple marketing strategies to further sell their work.
We hope you will join us on December 11th from Noon to 1:00pm for a Book Launch party in the Oakridge Library. The students will talk about their work and discuss what they hope to do next. There will also be a Q&A with the authors, book readings, and copies of their books will be available for purchase. Congratulations to these Oakridge students!
