Kellen Lewis, the Director of College Advising at The Oakridge School, has been named  Advancement Co-Chair for the Texas Association for College Admission Counseling (TACAC) Executive Board. Her two-year term takes effect March 26.

In a letter informing Lewis about the honor, TACAC congratulated and thanked her for her willingness to serve. Under her leadership, Oakridge’s Office of College Advising regularly meets with students and parents to advise and guide them through the college admission process. Lewis and her office organize and process the school’s component of student college applications, stay abreast of trends and changes in college admissions, advise on scholarship opportunities and awards, and arrange and host visits to colleges and from college admissions officers. In January, Lewis brought representatives from Davidson College, Santa Clara University, Purdue University, and The University of Texas of Austin for The Oakridge School’s 2019 College Night: Admission Deans’ Panel. A week later, Lewis and her team helped sophomores and juniors connect with representatives from nearly 40 public and private colleges that visited Oakridge.

“I am honored that I have been selected to join the TACAC Executive Board,” said Lewis, who holds a Bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University and a Master’s degree from Southern Methodist University. “I look forward to supporting the work of the organization, while continuing the growth and success of our college-preparatory work at Oakridge.”

Chartered in 1979, TACAC is one of 23 state and regional affiliates of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC). TACAC supports NACAC's mission to support and advance the work of counseling and enrollment professionals as they help all students realize their full educational potential, with particular emphasis on the transition to postsecondary education. TACAC is committed to promoting high professional standards that foster ethical and social responsibility.
