Students at The Oakridge School returned to campus for the first day of classes on Wednesday, August 21. Photographs will be made available as soon as possible at Vidigami.com. Some of the photos are posted here and to the school's Facebook account.

The 2019-2020 academic year began with Owls being warmly welcomed by smiling teachers and administrators at the entrance to every division. The Oakridge Parents’ Club also made returning and new parents feel welcome through the Cheers & Tears event held in the quad.

New faculty and staff greeting the more than 700 students include (top row, l-r): ECC Administrative Assistant Emily Savage, Lower School Administrative Assistant Melanie Butts, Alumni Relations Coordinator Kendra Walton ‘05, and ECC Director Nicki Morgan.

Also new this year are (bottom row, l-r): Assistant Head of Upper School Christine Metoyer, Middle School Art Teacher Zach Allen, Vicki Reed, the Lower School Tech and Idea Lab Instructor and Extended Day Coordinator, and Upper School English Teacher Bennett Mitchell.

New faces were not the only change at Oakridge that students likely noticed. A pumpkin patch that will provide hands-on learning for 4th grade science students and 3rd grade math students is now growing behind the current softball field.

Carpet has been pulled up and replaced with new flooring on the first and second floor hallways of the Information Center, and an US restroom and Lower School classroom have been remodeled. Two school buses were rewrapped during the summer and the Duggan-Schoening track was resurfaced. Much of the work was made possible due to the Oakridge Owl Club and Oakridge Parents’ Club. All of the projects are designed to enhance the student, faculty and staff experience.
