The Oakridge School recently inducted 64 Upper School students into the National Honor Society, the nation's premier organization recognizing outstanding high school students who demonstrate excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
The newly inducted students are seniors: Bely Lor, Eduardo Martinez, Hadrien Nguyen, Toan Nguyen, Jake Oglesby, Graham Stanush, Iman Suliman, and Emily Wan.
Junior students are: Jace Araujo, Rachel Clark, Zoe Fowler, Nicholas Gohr, Bonni Holloway, Rory Kelly, Anna McGough, Anh Nguyen, Miley Nguyen, Sarah Tota, and Thomas White.
The new sophomore members of the National Honor Society are: Briar Butler, Jacob Choudhry, Coco Cornell, Hannah Didehbani, Edwin Escobar, Bri Gervais, Mason Heiskell, Heather Hellwig, Clayton Jiles, Eric Johnson, Karli Karanges, Rosalind Krabill, Raegan Lane, Mark Le, Shelby Leenhouts, Anthony Leland, Annie Li, Corbin Liang, Alicia Lim, Alex Luong, Joshua Martinez, Jeremy Mehlmann, Macie Moody, Emily Nguyen, Emily O'Connor, Sylvana Pinto Teixeira, Michael Romo, Annemarie Roos, Taryn Salako, Marisa Sauls, Emma Schecter, John Schoening, Gurleen Singh, Colin Skinner, Grace Snyder, Grayson Stephens, Mercy Swinney, Elizabeth Trimble, David Wang, Benjamin Wang, Parker Wayland, Alita Whitaker, Josh Wilson, Karry Xia, and Christa York.
"We are so proud of every single one of these students," said Head of Upper School Butch Groves. "These young men and women consistently demonstrate academic excellence and a strong commitment to service, leadership and character – hallmarks we take very seriously at Oakridge."
Oakridge alumna Ashlei Fong-Kutchins '11 served as the ceremony speaker. She reflected on her time as a National Honor Society member and encouraged students to strive to always be the hardest worker in the room, to take pride in all that you do, and to stay true to your word. Fong-Kutchins earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences from Texas A&M University, and now serves as an Account Executive at Medix.
