The Oakridge School joins Baylor Scott & White Orthopedic and Spine Hospital Arlington and City of Arlington leaders at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 23, to officially launch construction of the school’s new baseball and softball complex, an area spanning 50 acres on West Pioneer Parkway.
The facilities mark the fifth phase of the Oakridge Athletic Complex campaign, which launched in 2006. The ballfields will be natural grass and both will be lighted. Other amenities will include three batting cages, bleacher seating, a picnic area, and ample parking.
“I am thrilled that The Oakridge School is in the home stretch of this major expansion that supports our mission of inspiring students in academics, arts, and athletics,” said Head of School Jon Kellam. “This dream has become a reality as a result of clear vision, dedicated faculty and staff, a supportive Board of Regents, and many generous donors.”
Baylor Scott & White Orthopedic and Spine Hospital Arlington provided the leadership gift toward the $3 million project. Dallas-based Sports Fields Solutions is constructing the new athletic area. The company has also done work for Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers, Texas Christian University, Baylor University, and the University of Texas at Austin. Kellam, Arlington Deputy City Manager Jim Parajon, Deputy Mayor Pro-Tem Victoria Farrar-Myers, and Dr. Todd Daniels of Baylor Scott & White Orthopedic and Spine Hospital Arlington, are scheduled to attend the groundbreaking ceremony, which will be held at the construction site on the campus.
Other elements of the Oakridge Athletic Complex are:
- Parvin Stadium/Frank Football and Soccer Field
- Crudup Field Hockey Field
- Practice Fields
- Duggan/Schoening Track
- Bhakta Playground
- Tennis Complex
